DREDF filed a motion with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal seeking leave to participate as amicus curiae in Guthrey v. Alta California Regional Center, a case that will decide whether regional centers and their vendors are subject to the anti-discrimination provisions of the ADA.

DREDF, CommunicationFIRST, and the Independent Living Resource Center San Francisco sent a letter to UCSF leaders regarding Alice Wong's recent experience at the Moffitt/Long Hospital for an urgent medical need. During her stay, Alice was denied effective communication and was subjected to the constant risk of infection from unmasked or improperly masked staff.

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) have the potential to transform access to transportation and related infrastructure for people with disabilities. AVs and new technologies also come with significant risks of embedding and perpetuating bias and discrimination that permeate society. This brief considers bias within pedestrian detection and collision behavior algorithms, lack of disability representation in the datasets used to train and test AVs, and the need for ethics frameworks that give full recognition to disabled people's humanity and fundamental rights. Policy measures to mitigate the identified risks are proposed.
