Day two for RightsNow! in Kenya
Viewing of The Power of 504 breaks preconceived notions that disability rights in the U.S. were given on a silver platter.
RightsNow! participants at the end of a very long day that included learning about U.S. disability rights laws, with details about the content of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the history of the U.S. disability rights/independent living movement, strategizing on how to strengthen implementation and enforcement of the Kenya Persons with Disabilities Act, and at the end of the day, watching The Power of 504.
This is very inspiring: to know that the work done in the Bay Area back then has come so far as to be disseminated globally. And it has not taken European colonial authority to impose anything upon anybody, it just makes “God’s Good Sense” to move with vigor into a future that offers uppermost equality and accessibility.
